EEO Complaints-An Introduction

Background.

Filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is governed by Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 1614, Federal Sector Equal Employment Opportunity. Violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (As Amended), The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (As Amended), The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 (As Amended), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Equal Pay Act, and Pregnancy Discrimination would all fall under the purview of the EEOC.

Although employees of the Agency are not covered by the ADA, the provisions of the ADA apply to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which does cover Agency Employees. The other Acts noted above could also apply if the circumstances of the situation violate the provisions of the appropriate Act.
